How to publish in ELECTRA
Share Your Expertise with the World – Submit Your Article to ELECTRA
As the global power system undergoes a transformative era, the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences has never been greater. ELECTRA, CIGRE’s flagship publication, serves as a premier platform for professionals across the world to disseminate insights, innovations, and strategic thinking in the energy domain. Whether you are involved in policy, technology, operations, or organisational activities, ELECTRA offers you a unique opportunity to make your voice heard by the international community.
ELECTRA is the official magazine of CIGRE, published every two months (in even-numbered months). It is widely read by engineers, researchers, utility professionals, policymakers, and thought leaders in the power systems field. ELECTRA plays a critical role in fulfilling CIGRE’s mission: the collaborative development and sharing of power system expertise, with a focus on practical application and innovation.
Publishing in ELECTRA not only allows you to share your knowledge with a global audience but also helps shape best practices, stimulate collaboration, and contribute to the evolution of power systems worldwide. It is also a chance to highlight your work and build professional connections within the CIGRE community and beyond.
ELECTRA welcomes submissions across four major editorial sections. Each section targets a distinct audience and area of interest:
1. Global Connections
This section features articles and reports derived from the Leadership Circle newsletter. It highlights international trends, energy policy developments, and cross-border collaborations. If you are working on multinational initiatives, policy comparisons, or international regulatory evolutions, this is the place to share your insights.
2. Technology E2E
This section is fueled by CIGRE’s Future Connections newsletter, developed under the guidance of the Technical Council Chair. It also welcomes articles exploring cutting-edge innovations, technical challenges, and future-focused solutions across the end-to-end power system chain. Whether your expertise lies in generation, transmission and distribution, digitalisation, resilience, or emerging grid technologies, we are eager to hear from you.
We especially welcome articles related to the Energy Transition, a key focus area of CIGRE’s technical work. Relevant contributions may cover any of the following eight “hot topics”:
- Digitalisation
- Storage
- Grid and Flexibility
- Sustainability and Climate
- Solar PV and Wind
- Hydrogen
- Consumers, Prosumers and Electric Vehicles
- Sector Integration
Whether you are implementing novel solutions, conducting research, or addressing real-world operational challenges, your work can help inform and inspire others navigating similar transitions.
3. Life of the Association
This section focuses on CIGRE’s internal activities and community life, including updates from Sessions, Symposia, Colloquia, Study Committees (SC), Working Groups (WG), National Committee (NC) and regional events. Articles in this section celebrate the people and events that bring CIGRE to life.
We also strongly encourage contributions from members of the Next Generation Network (NGN) and Women in Energy (WiE) communities. Whether you are showcasing initiatives, leadership experiences, or reflections on diversity and inclusion, your voice is essential to the future of CIGRE.
4. Global Leadership Perspectives
This section offers leadership insights and career development content. Contributions may include executive viewpoints, expert interviews, and reflections on personal and professional growth in the evolving power sector. Articles in this section aim to inspire current and future leaders within the CIGRE community.
