CIGRE China - C1 2026 Annual General Meeting

The 2026 Annual General Meeting of CIGRE China C1 was successfully held on 6th February in Beijing, with over 30 participants attending in person cross China. The event brought together experts from universities and power enterprises, as well as core representatives of the CIGRE China National Committee and CIGRE C1 China Committee. The primary aim of the meeting was to review committee’s work in 2025 and to share the progress of C1 WGs.
The meeting began with an Opening Address delivered by Hui Li, the vice chair of CIGRE China C1 Committee and the Convener of JWG C1/B4.58. In his address, Prof. Li highlighted the significant achievements of the CIGRE China C1 Committee in 2025, emphasizing the committee's pivotal role in gathering top-tier expertise from the industry and promoting technological exchanges.
Following the Opening Address, Jianjun Zhao, the General Secretary of CIGRE China National Committee and Chongqing Kang, Chair of CIGRE C1 China Committee, stressed the importance of understanding the governance philosophy and working rules of CIGRE. This, they noted, would lay a solid foundation for high-quality research in the years to come.
In the next section, the meeting focused on the progress of various work groups, with their conveners presenting the latest updates. The following topics were shared:
- Ning Zhang from Tsinghua University presented on C1.52 Virtual Power Plants: role and deployment in large power systems’ operation and planning.
- Haiwang Zhong from Tsinghua University discussed C1.54 Assessment of system reserves and flexibility needs in the power systems of the future.
- Hui Li from State Grid Economic and Technological Research Institute Co., Ltd shared insights C1/B4.58 VSC-HVDC Transmission System Planning.
- Yi Wang from The University of Hong Kong presented on C1.59 Power-Heat Sector Integration.
- Yue Fan from Northwest Branch of State Grid Corporation of China shared on C1.60 Multi-Domain Co-Optimization of Flex. Resources for High-RES systems.
Attendees greatly appreciated the insightful and thought-provoking presentations, which generated lively discussions. The event concluded with a comprehensive discussion on the key issues presented. Finally, Zhidong Wang, CIGRE C1 China Member and General Secretary of CIGRE C1 China Committee, affirmed the committee’s commitment to continuing technical exchanges within China and strengthening communication with CIGRE globally.
