In Memoriam - Dr. Karl-Heinz Schneider
It is with great sadness that that we learned from the German NC of the passing of Herr Professor Karl-Heinz Schneider.
Herr Dr. Schneider joined CIGRE in 1970 and played pivotal roles within both VDE and CIGRE. With exceptional dedication and recognized expertise, he shaped the successful development of CIGRE over many years, and he was recognized as an Honorary Member.
In 1970, Dr. Schneider joined CIGRE and subsequently assumed the responsibility for several important positions within CIGRE throughout his career.
We, the members of CIGRE, are deeply indebted to Dr. Schneider:
- He served as chairman of the Technical Committee of CIGRE from 1984 to 1990.
- He was the long-time leader of the former SC33 Insulation Coordination.
- He also chaired the German Commission for Electrical Engineering within the VDE (DKE) for many years.
As a person, Professor Schneider touched us with his extraordinary commitment, expertise, and always friendly demeanour: In professional circles, among member companies, customers, and colleagues, he was highly esteemed and beloved.
His legacy will live on in our memories, and his contributions to the electrical engineering and energy industry will remain unforgettable.
We will hold him in honourable remembrance.
