Life of the association

Inside CIGRE: Get to know our Central Office Team! 一 Part 1

In this mini-serie, meet the women and men working at CIGRE’s Central Office. Through a few questions, they share their roles, motivations, and a bit about themselves to help you get to know the people behind our association.
This month: Valérie, Registrations Manager & Marie, Publications Manager

Valérie Alidor
Registrations Manager

What is your role within CIGRE, and what does your daily work involve?

Valérie: I joined CIGRE in 2020, and I am responsible for Session registration and delegate services. Once the Session is over, I focus on improving the registration process based on feedback and comments from delegate satisfaction surveys.

What motivates you most in your work?

V.: A prestigious event like the Session takes two years to prepare and involves many people and skills. Over these two years, the teams work hand in hand until the big day. Seeing such a project come to fruition thanks to an incredible collective effort is truly rewarding and motivating. For me, it’s an amazing driving force to start preparing the next Session right after the current one ends.

Describe your work in three words.

V.: Keep calm and do your best (or try to :)

How do you see CIGRE's future in the coming years?

V.: I believe CIGRE will become an essential reference for all players in the energy sector. The growth in membership and the success of the biennial Sessions in Paris point in this direction: in a few years, CIGRE will be the place to be in the field.

Marie Taillandier
Publications Manager

What is your role within CIGRE, and what does your daily work involve?

Marie: I oversee the editing and distribution of CIGRE publications. My role involves making Technical Brochures, Session Papers, and other publications produced by CIGRE Working Groups and Members accessible on the eCIGRE online library.
In addition, I coordinate the publication of the Association’s magazine, ELECTRA, by working with the editorial team to organize the bi-monthly release schedule and managing the layout of the articles. Similarly, I contribute to the CIGRE Science & Engineering magazine, where I handle editorial planning, content coordination, and layout design, in collaboration with Rob Stephen, Chief Editor.

What recent project or mission has particularly stood out for you in your work?

M.: In recent years, CIGRE’s digital tools have evolved significantly to provide members with better access to the association’s resources. Each improvement is the result of months of work, reflection, consultation, and development on projects that we are deeply committed to. Since I joined in 2016, I have contributed to several revamps of eCIGRE, which remains one of my priorities this year. My goal is to enhance not only the interface and user experience but also the entire back-office system. I am proud to see how much CIGRE’s websites have improved for users and remain fully dedicated to meeting our members’ expectations and ensuring their satisfaction.

Describe your job in three words

M.: Organization, Collaboration, Curiosity!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

M.: I spend a lot of time drawing, and when I have time, I also play video games and board games :). I also enjoy cycling to work and getting around by bike in general. It’s a moment I’ve cherished for the past ten years in Paris and its surroundings. In my eyes, Paris is much more beautiful when explored by bike or on foot!
