Imane El Atia
Communication & Sponsorship Manager

What is your role within CIGRE, and what does your daily work involve?

Imane: I am in charge of institutional comunication, PR and sponsorship offers. My daily tasks include :

  • Promoting CIGRE at international events
  • Defining the graphic design for the CIGRE Session held in Paris every two years
  • Establishing and strengthening relationships with CIGRE partners
  • Designing and organizing the daily program of CIGRE TV
  • Prospecting new sponsors
  • Developing the communication strategy for each CIGRE Session
  • Writing press releases and other content used for media purposes
  • Work on developing the PR strategy

Can you share a memorable moment or anecdote from your time at CIGRE ?

I.: The virtual centennial session in 2021 was the most memorable moment for me. I joined CIGRE in june 2021 and one of my biggest task at that time was to create the very first CIGRE TV programme within two months. That period was extremely intense, full of unexpected events. In the end, the virtual centennial session was a real success and the first season of CIGRE TV was officially part of the Paris session!

Describe your work in three words.

I.: Communication, Sponsorship, Press Relations

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I.: I enjoy spending time with my friends and going on cultural outings such as museums and art galleries. I also love discovering new places in Paris, whether it’s for a new culinary experience or to discover a new artist. Reading and traveling are my go to activities as well.

Raty Nizar
Assistant to Secretary General

What is your role within CIGRE, and what does your daily work involve?

Raty: I joined CIGRE on February 2018 as assistant to the Secretary General, Philippe Adam. I have various responsibilities but my main role is to assist the Secretary General on tasks related to the Governing Bodies (National Committees, CIGRE’s Administrative Council, Steering Committee and members of the Technical Council). There are certain actions to be taken by each of these bodies and I have to follow up and check if undertaken within a given deadline.

Concerning statutory meetings, I prepare the draft agenda (finalized by the officers) & other preliminary documents to be distributed on KMS (our collaborative platform) to members of the board; for the Administrative Council as well as the Steering Committee meetings, scheduled twice a year. Action lists and minutes are recorded after each statutory meeting and distributed to all board members.

I assist National Committee hosting statutory meetings, making sure all requirements have been catered for.

Study Committee Chairs, secretaries or Working Group conveners also contact me for support in implementing CIGRE Webinar tutorials after publication of their Technical Brochures.

Even years are the busiest due to the Paris Session: I handle the preparation of certificates, awards & gifts remitted to each category of the CIGRE Award recipients, during the Opening Ceremony.

Additionally, I coordinate with various suppliers and caterers concerning the logistics related to the following events: CEO Forum, Administrative Council meetings, Women in Energy forum and CIGRE Soirée.

What motivates you the most in your work?

R.: What motivates me most is working in diverse, international environments. I have always enjoyed connecting with people from different regions and backgrounds – it keeps things dynamic, helps me learn new perspectives, and creates a more collaborative and inclusive workspace.

Describe your job in three words.

R.: Well organized, efficient, easy-going and tactful for the need of others.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

R.: I enjoy my weekly yoga sessions. I like reading or watching movies and go hiking with my companion. Another of my favourite hobby is our monthly gathering with friends around a good meal.
