Enhancing Transit Capacity to support the Energy Transition
CIGRE Study Committee B2 has been addressing the challenge of enhancing transmission transit capacity for more than two decades. In recent years, this challenge has intensified significantly due to accelerating electrification of vehicles and heating, rapid expansion of data centres driven by artificial intelligence, industrial electrification, and the large-scale integration of renewable energy sources often located far from load centres.
