In Memoriam - Mircea Eremia
1940 - 2026
With deep sorrow, the CIGRE Romania community announces the passing of Professor Emeritus Mircea Eremia.
For CIGRE Romania, Professor Emeritus Mircea Eremia was a benchmark of professionalism, rigor, and excellence, continuously contributing to technical progress, international cooperation, and the education of new generations of specialists. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was awarded the title of CIGRE Honorary Member, one of the highest distinctions granted by the organization worldwide.
His entire career was devoted to the development of electrical power systems, with major contributions to system stability, power electronics applications, FACTS devices, HVDC transmission, and smart grids. He played a key role in educating generations of engineers at the University Politehnica of Bucharest and in advancing research and international collaboration.
CIGRE Romania extends its sincere condolences to his family, colleagues, collaborators, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him and working alongside him. His memory and contributions will remain alive within the community he served with honor, dignity, and excellence.
