PARIS SESSION 2026

CIGRE Session 2026 - Large Disturbances Workshop: Call for presentations

As part of the CIGRE Session 2026, the Large Disturbances Workshop will bring together experts to share insights and lessons learned from major power system events. This call for presentations invites contributions based on real-world experience and practical analysis of significant disturbances.

Since its inception in 2011, the Market Disturbance Workshop organized by CIGRE Study Committee C5 has provided a valued forum for examining notable events affecting electricity markets worldwide. In 2014, the workshop was combined with the well‑established Large Disturbances Workshop of Study Committee C2, creating a joint platform that has grown steadily in prominence and participation. The combined workshop now offers a comprehensive review of significant technical and market disturbances observed over the previous 18 to 24 months, highlighting system behavior, institutional responses, and regulatory performance under stress. Particular attention is given to events that impact both power system operations and electricity markets, with presenters coordinating their contributions to deliver a cohesive and informative account. This long‑standing collaboration continues to support the international community in advancing resilient and well‑functioning power systems.

Workshop objectives

To share experiences of significant technical and market disturbances that have occurred in the past 12-24 months

✓ What happened? Type of disturbance?
✓ How did power systems, participants & institutions respond?
✓ How did markets and regulatory policy and settings perform?
✓ What observations/lessons learned were there?

Events that involved both power system and market disturbances are particularly welcome. However, disturbances impacting only one aspect are also welcome.

Presenters addressing the disturbance impacting both power system and market operations will be asked to coordinate their content to avoid duplication. For example, the event should be described only once.
